Clinical experience with the Rhône-Poulenc ascites reinfusion apparatus.

چکیده
ONLY six patients with cirrhosis and ascites have been treated with the Rh6ne-Poulenc ascites reinfusion apparatus. They were admitted 24 hr before the initiation of the treatment in an intensive care unit for patients with liver diseases. On the previous day, and during the procedure, the following were observed hourly: respiratory rate; heart rate; blood pressure; central venous pressure; portal pressure by catheterization of a para-umbilical vein; urine volume and body temperature. The concentration in urine, plasma and ultrafiltrate of urea, creatinine, sodium and potassium as well as osmolality were determined every six hours during the procedure. The volume of ultrafiltrate was also recorded. All the patients had a normal ECG, chest X-ray and heart on physical examination and none had infection of the ascitic fluid.

Treatment of ascites by reinfusion of concentrated peritoneal fluid--review of 318 procedures in 210 patients.
A modified plate dialyser (Rhone-Poulenc) was used 318 times to concentrate ascites for reinfusion in 210 patients, most of them having longstanding ascites refractory to diuretic treatment. The advantages of this method of treatment are its rapidity and efficacy, ascites being reduced in a mean time of 21±13 hr. Hyponatraemia is easily corrected by a sodium load during reinfusion. There was im...

The results of twenty-four ascitic reinfusions in twenty patients, using the Rhodiascit procedure, are reported. The procedure was of no value in the management of patients with spontaneous functional renal failure, but was of considerable value in accelerating hospital discharge of patients with tense ascites but good renal function. Complications of the procedure were few, but tests of blood ...
متن کاملReinfusion of ascites during hemodialysis as a treatment of massive refractory ascites and acute renal failure
Refractory ascites can occur in patients with various conditions. Although several procedures based on the reinfusion of ascitic fluid have been reported after the failure of bed rest, salt and water restriction, diuretics, intravenous administration of albumin, and repeated paracentesis, these procedures are performed for ascitic fluid removal without dialytic effect. In this study, a flow con...
متن کاملThe Rhodiascit system--individual response to reinfusion possibly related to angiotensin sensitivity: preliminary results.
Introduction The effectiveness of reinfusion of concentrated ascitic fluid (Rhodiascit system) in treatment of 'refractory ascites' is well established (L6vy et al., 1971). Besides this absolute indication its usefulness has been stressed in situations that require quick drying up of the ascites (Van Waes, van Quickenborne and Demeulenaere, 1973). Our experience with this technique has been pre...
